Sizewell C’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Overall, whilst the Company is in the construction phase, the Boards’ principal focus is on the development and construction of Sizewell C on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Company is maturing to meet all these requirements.
Sizewell C is economically regulated by OFGEM under the RAB model similar to other UK electricity distribution networks and Thames Tideway. Sizewell C construction strategy is to replicate the design of Hinkley Point C, using the majority of the same supply chain, but innovating in the way it is delivered to achieve savings in time and cost of around 20%. The CCO will need to be guided by and incorporate lessons learned from the Hinkley Point C commercial delivery to achieve Sizewell C’s ambition.
Deputy Harbour Master Location: travel between (Orwell Logistics Park) Ipswich and Leiston, Suffolk
Working pattern: 4 to 5 days per week on site
Salary: £75,000 per annum

About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Harbour Master to support the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the Statutory Harbour Authority at Sizewell C. You will work closely with the Harbour Master to deliver the Marine Safety Management System (MSMS), oversee day‑to‑day marine operations, manage navigational safety and ensure compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code and relevant legislation. This is a hands‑on, on‑site role within a fast‑paced and high‑profile infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support delivery and continuous improvement of the Marine Safety Management System
- Ensure compliance with PMSC, maritime legislation and harbour regulations
- Coordinate daily marine and harbour operations, vessel movements and contractor activities
- Support Marine Works Applications, risk assessments and emergency response planning
- Act as part of the emergency response team for marine incidents and pollution events
- Build strong relationships with regulators, contractors and stakeholders
- Deputise for the Harbour Master when required
About You
Essential Experience as a Harbour Master or Deputy Harbour Master. Strong knowledge of UK maritime legislation and PMSC. Background in marine operations, port or harbour management.
