As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer within our Civil Engineering Branch in Nuclear Services, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the delivery of major projects such as Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C, while also contributing to the safety and longevity of our existing nuclear fleet. You’ll provide technical leadership across geotechnical design, including seismic assessments and soil-structure interaction, ensuring designs meet stringent regulatory and safety case requirements. This role can be based at Gloucester Business Park or Glasgow, with hybrid working arrangements that typically include 2-3 days in the office per week. There will be regular collaboration with designers, regulators, and stakeholders across sites, with travel to Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and other EDF locations as needed, alongside occasional international opportunities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing authoritative technical advice on geotechnical engineering across major projects
  • Reviewing and accepting designs for foundations, earthworks, and ground engineering systems
  • Assessing seismic risks, including soil-structure interaction analyses
  • Ensuring compliance with design codes, standards, and nuclear safety case requirements
  • Collaborating with internal teams, regulators, and external stakeholders to manage risks and deliver solutions

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer who brings strong technical expertise, confidence working in regulated environments, and the ability to influence stakeholders.

Do you offer:

  • A degree or equivalent in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status (ICE or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in geotechnical design, including foundations, retaining structures, and ground improvement
  • Experience in seismic assessments, including soil-structure interaction analyses
  • Experience reviewing and approving technical documentation in line with codes and standards
