The Opportunity
At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
As a Senior Commercial Operations Manager, you’ll be at the heart of a project that’s transforming the UK’s energy future. You’ll lead the strategic management of key engineering and nuclear services contracts, working closely with stakeholders from across the globe. Your influence will help navigate complex delivery challenges and ensure governance across vital technical and engineering programmes. What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll lead a high-performing Commercial Management team, setting strategic direction and aligning commercial goals with EDF’s broader mission. Your work will directly support the successful delivery of the Responsible Designer and Nuclear Services contracts, ensuring value is maximised and long-term outcomes are achieved.
Operationally, you’ll oversee the delivery of commercial services to the Technical Directorate, manage key contract interfaces worth hundreds of millions annually, and drive continuous improvement across governance, risk, and financial processes. Your ability to solve problems and make “best for project” decisions will be key.
As a leader, you’ll inspire excellence across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring consistent performance and compliance with safety, schedule, and quality standards. You’ll be a visible role model, championing professionalism and nuclear safety at every turn.
Who You Are
You bring a strong financial background—whether through qualification or experience—and a sharp commercial mindset. You’ve worked in project management or engineering environments and are confident navigating complex stakeholder landscapes. Your leadership style is inclusive and empowering, and you’ve successfully led teams of commercial or business professionals.
You’re highly organised, an excellent communicator, and proactive in resolving challenges. You thrive in dynamic environments, embrace change, and bring a questioning attitude that drives improvement. Technically, you’re adept at breaking down complex problems, interpreting contracts, and turning data into actionable insights. Proficiency in MS Office and a commitment to maintaining accurate, auditable records are second nature to you.
Additionally, you must meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which generally requires you to have been a UK resident for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
