The HPC Jobs Service supports local people into exciting, long-term careers across our Project. A vital member of the existing Scaffold and Temporary Works Design Team, filling a middle level role. Anticipation is for candidate to mature into the role and ultimately assume guidance and mentor role for next candidate intake.
Accountabilities:
- To act as a Design Engineer for the MEH Alliance scope of works at Hinkley Point C nuclear new build power station.
Key Deliverables:
- Production of drawings using the latest AutoCAD and other Autodesk software.
- Creation of detailed engineering calculations in accordance with the relevant British and European standards using structural analysis software where required.
- Liaison with the MEH Alliance partners, operational supervisors and client representatives to ensure optimum solutions are reached.
- Production of all relevant documentation in adherence with company and MEH Alliance procedures along with CDM regulations.
- Provision of guidance, advice and technical support where applicable.
- Checking of designs in accordance with BS5975.
Requirements:
- HNC, HND or Degree in civil, mechanical or structural engineering.
- I.T. literate and fully proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. A working knowledge of structural analysis software would be a distinct advantage.
- 2 years experience in the design of scaffolding structures.
- Problem solver, organised, ability to prioritise and deliver within a high-paced environment.
- Commitment drive and the ability to work on one's own initiative.
- Proven track record in nuclear power preferred.
- Experience working on major construction projects.
- Experienced in delivering and operating as a Team Lead, including experience working within Joint Ventures.
- Positive, can-do mentality.
- Proven track record of success.
- Strong leader with collaborative nature.
- Ability to reach sensible compromise position.
- Strong focus on team performance, training, mentoring and integration with client and Alliance teams.
