The Opportunity
Join us as a Welding Engineer within Nuclear Services, supporting major projects across new nuclear builds, generating stations, and defuelling sites. As part of the Welding Metallurgy Group, you'll lead welding activities, oversee manufacturing and installation operations, and ensure full regulatory compliance for high-integrity welds. This role involves work across construction sites and supplier facilities, with occasional international travel. You'll be based at Gloucester Business Park or Glasgow, working to a hybrid model.

- Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing and accepting welding and manufacturing documentation.
- Manage technical input on welding nonconformances and design changes.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, suppliers, quality departments, designers and regulators.
- Offer expert advice to support welding-related Safety Cases.
- Contribute to health & safety, technical leadership, planning, quality, financial management and skills development.
- Champion Nuclear Services values and behaviours.
Who You Are
Background in heavy or regulated industries (oil & gas, construction, manufacturing). Nuclear experience is beneficial but not essential. Practical welding or fabrication experience is a strong advantage. Broad practical and theoretical engineering knowledge. HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject. European/International Welding Engineer (EWE/IWE) qualification ideal. Structural Integrity experience desirable.
You will also have:
- Strong understanding of arc welding processes and welding qualifications.
- Knowledge of RCCM, ISO 15614, ASME IX standards.
- Aware of heavy-industry manufacturing processes (forging, casting, forming, heat treatment).
- Good organisational, communication and technical writing skills.
Desirable:
- Experience auditing to ISO 3834.
- Knowledge of weldability, material behaviour and degradation.
- Understanding of UK nuclear regulatory requirements.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
