About the Role

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a passionate and detail-driven finance professional to join us as a Principal Financial Reporting Accountant within our Financial Control & Reporting (FC&R) team at EDF. This is a high-impact role at the heart of our Customers Finance function, where you’ll play a key part in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our financial information, while driving insight-led reporting that supports decision-making at the highest levels of our organisation. As part of a dynamic and inclusive team of nine, you’ll help shape the financial narrative of EDF’s Customers business—consolidating full sets of financial statements, producing monthly performance packs for our Executive team and Board, supporting regulatory submissions to Ofgem, and acting as a key liaison with auditors and our Corporate colleagues. With your expertise, you’ll be central to our planning processes, audit work, and the transition to our new billing platform. This is more than a numbers role—it’s a chance to make your mark in a business that’s driving towards a more sustainable energy future.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a competitive starting salary and a market-leading pension scheme, we offer a range of flexible benefits to support our people across all aspects of their lives. Your rewards package includes a choice of benefits, such as electric vehicle leasing, enhanced parental leave, health insurance, discounts, and employee pricing. Flexible working means you can work from home (if you wish) and we’ll provide a suite of IT equipment to ensure that you can work remotely comfortably and effectively. At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself. We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility. We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need. We’ll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

What you’ll be doing

As Principal Financial Reporting Accountant, you’ll lead a smooth and compliant financial close process, ensuring accuracy, insight, and alignment with both internal and corporate stakeholder needs. You’ll shape the monthly performance packs, guiding business segment leaders and finance partners to deliver meaningful analysis that drives strategic decisions. From managing group consolidations and regulatory forecasts, to driving quarterly planning cycles and supporting key audit activities, your role will be pivotal across all reporting cycles. You’ll collaborate with teams across the business, from the Finance Director to data and automation experts, embedding process improvements and best practice controls. You’ll also take the lead on critical regulatory deliverables—like Ofgem stress testing, segmental reporting, and impairment modelling—ensuring our reporting is robust, insightful, and future-ready. This is a varied, high-profile role offering plenty of scope to influence and innovate.

Who you are

You’re a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong technical skills and a natural curiosity about what drives performance. You’re confident navigating across all areas of the financial statements and bring a sharp eye for detail, solid business acumen, and the ability to translate data into meaningful insights. A skilled communicator and influencer, you know how to engage senior stakeholders and adapt your style to suit different audiences. You thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, stay resilient under pressure, and are always looking for smarter, more efficient ways of working. You’re tech-savvy, confident with financial systems, Excel, and PowerPoint, and eager to get stuck into tools like Anaplan. Above all, you’re a team player who’s committed to sustainability, safety, and continuous improvement.
