Join a role where your expertise protects people, progress and purpose. At EDF, we know that everyone’s path looks different. That’s why Success is Personal, and here you can lead fire safety where it truly matters while shaping a career that reflects your impact.

The Opportunity

As a CommOps Fire Safety Team Leader, you’ll play a critical role in preparing Hinkley Point C for commissioning and pre-operations. You’ll lead fire safety management across a complex, high-risk environment, helping keep people safe while supporting EDF’s journey towards An Electric Britain. You’ll join us on a salary starting of £67,000 per annum, based primarily at the Hinkley Point C site. This role offers some flexibility for home working or other EDF office locations, balanced with a strong on-site presence to support operational priorities. Leading a skilled team, you’ll shape fire safety arrangements, influence stakeholders and strengthen a positive fire safety culture. Your work will support regulatory compliance, operational readiness and long-term safety across one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a CommOps Fire Safety Team Leader who leads with confidence, clarity and purpose, and who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on engagement. To be shortlisted, you need to offer:

  • A minimum Level 4 Fire Safety qualification with an approved professional body such as the Institute of Fire Engineers
  • At least five years’ fire safety experience in complex construction, process or nuclear environments
  • Proven experience leading and implementing Fire Safety Management Systems on nuclear licensed sites
  • Strong knowledge of UK and international fire safety standards and CDM Regulations
  • Experience developing and assuring fire risk assessments within high-risk environments

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the development and assurance of the CommOps Fire Safety Management Plan
  • Managing and supporting a team of fire safety professionals
  • Providing expert fire safety advice across construction, commissioning and pre-operations
  • Overseeing fire and DSEAR risk assessments and compliance activities
  • Engaging contractors, regulators and internal teams to strengthen fire safety performance

Alongside a starting salary of £67,000 per annum, potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package includes flexible benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers and experience days.
