The Opportunity
As a Civil Engineer at EDF UK, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering major Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) projects at Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C, while also supporting our fleet of operating nuclear power stations. You’ll be part of the Civil Engineering Branch within Nuclear Services and will work alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience and developing your technical skills in a safety-focused, collaborative environment.
You’ll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, from external designers to regulators, and travel to key sites to maintain oversight and drive project success. Your expertise will help us fulfil our ‘Intelligent Customer’ responsibilities, ensuring our designs and operations meet the highest standards.

What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the review and acceptance of nuclear-classified structural designs
- Assisting in the release of design packages for construction
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and technical standards
- Participating in outage activities and investment delivery projects
- Building relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including regulators
Overall, you’ll be at the forefront of civil design and construction for Hinkley Point C, contribute to the ramp-up of Sizewell C, and support life extension projects for our existing nuclear fleet. Your work will directly impact and contribute to Britain’s journey to #CarbonNetZero. This is a role where your expertise will shape the future of nuclear energy, offering both challenge and reward in equal measure.
Who you are
You will hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and bring experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer, ideally working towards Chartership status. You’re skilled in designing or reviewing reinforced concrete and steelwork structures, working to Eurocodes or other recognised standards.
You’re confident leading integrated technical solutions, governance, and stakeholder engagement. Your analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work independently set you apart. Above all, your communication and interpersonal skills enable you to thrive in a collaborative, innovative environment.
