What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll provide high-quality, authoritative Human Factors advice across the business, developing technical strategies and leading major workstreams that align with legal, compliance, and commercial requirements. A structured governance and performance model will guide your approach to delivery and support. As a champion of the Human Factors discipline, you’ll mentor colleagues, shape technical training, and help embed best practices across EDF. Collaboration with the HF Group and EDF UK Licensees will be key as you support the resolution of complex technical and regulatory issues. This could include applying human reliability methodologies to assess operator actions and enhance performance. You may also take part in the design and optimisation of Human Machine Interfaces at every stage of development—from setting requirements to final commissioning.

Who you are

You’ll provide high-quality, authoritative Human Factors advice and expertise across a wide range of nuclear projects. You’ll bring strong technical leadership, supporting the integration of Human Factors throughout the full plant lifecycle, including operations, design, safety cases, and procedures. You’ll be experienced in applying human reliability methodologies to assess operator performance and help drive improvements in human reliability. You’ll work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams to optimise Human-Machine Interfaces (such as control rooms, panels, and plant systems) and operational arrangements (including management structures and procedures), contributing to effective Human Factors Integration (HFI). We’re looking for someone who thrives in delivering HF solutions in high-profile, time-critical projects and who enjoys mentoring others and delivering technical training. You’ll have the ability to distil complex information, see the bigger picture, and strategically plan and implement HF activities across EDF’s Civil Nuclear Fleet. Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills are essential, as you’ll work with a wide range of internal and external partners across different disciplines and organisational levels. If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) which will, ordinarily, require you to have British residency for the last 3 years.
