HSW Lead (Sizewell C) Civil Works Alliance (CWA) Sizewell C
- Communicate and implement the HSW strategy.
- Build solid relationships with stakeholders and deliver on customer strategic and tactical requirements.
- Lead and manage the HSW team including supporting the PDR process.
- Work with HR on developing resources including recruitment and interviews.
- Undertake Health and Safety compliance evaluations, tours and audits as required to ensure sufficient assurance of project activities.
- Identify and rank risks associated with CWA work activities.
- Prepare fact-driven reports following inspections, tours, audits and investigations.
- Support the implementation of and ensure compliance with the Sizewell C (SZC) project standards and the CWA Safety Management System (SMS).
- Build relationships with the CWA project teams and wider interested stakeholders.
- Support the HSW team during work planning to evaluate and address potential risks.
- Trained to CWA standard for Investigating Incidents (Principal Incident Investigators HFAC's Training).
- Respond to, co-ordinate and support/deal effectively with emerging events.
- Lead or support the investigation of events by the project and HSW teams.
- Work closely with the operational teams to coordinate and share the relevant information required to compile the appropriate reports when an event has occurred.
- Plan and undertake witness accounts/statements.
- Feed information into the Project and Parent Company Reporting Systems.
- Understand the CWA and Project Event Reporting Procedural requirements.
- Ensure that lessons learned from monitoring, events and/or from the Alliance parent companies are communicated and adopted by the project teams.
- Support or deliver training and advisory sessions to operational teams and Tier 2 contractors including: Setting to Work, Fact Finders (including Just/Fair Culture), Occupational Health (OH) and CWA SMS Familiarisation.
- Support the review and updating of relevant project HSW documentation.
- Support operational teams to deliver Zero Harm and the Zero Harm Events Calendar.
- Promote the use of the project and CWA reporting tools ensuring that actions are taken, and feedback delivered.
- Communicate and promote a positive Health & Safety culture.
- Undertake reviews of relevant safety documentation, e.g. work package plans/task briefings.
- Liaise with regulators (ONR) and develop proactive relationships.
- Motivate, coach and support the CWA Project Management teams to deliver the HSW project requirements.
- Support the implementation of the Nuclear Safety message during engagements with the whole CWA team.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (or working towards).
- NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a Lead or Manager role with relevant construction-related or transferable skills.

- Detailed technical knowledge and experience of Health and Safety legislation, regulations and guidance.
- Experience of working on Major Infrastructure Projects.
- Prior experience of providing leadership and support to operational and functional teams and of working at a senior level.

- Ability to influence and promote a positive HSW culture by providing constructive feedback to others around their performance, strengths and development needs.
- Engage at all levels within the CWA operational team structure.
- High competence in accident and incident investigation.
- Use data and information for the preparation of HSW reports.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Manager competence.
