Accountabilities:
- Managing a team of H&S advisors, using experience in recruitment, training and HR fundamentals
- Ownership and focal point of the HPC site safety platform (Insight) on behalf of Wilson James
- Working in collaboration with the Environmental Manager and their team
- Accountable for managing the Health, Safety and Environmental Performance Indicators, ensuring they are completed in full and submitted every month
- Responsible for safety performance and reporting accidents and incidents on the Notify software (Wilson James)
- Delegated as the WJ project Fire Safety Office, ensuring all WJ Fire Safety Plans are valid, in place and reviewed to meet permit acceptance
- Responsible for reviewing all WJ RAMS and SSOW, ensuring mandatory site SSOW are in place and compliant
- Responsible for working with the WJ Quality team, ensuring WJ align with the permit requirements for HPC, monitoring performance and supporting additional training
- Identifying employee and project training requirements and safety information
- Active participation in selected inductions and briefings
- Participate in WJ Logistics internal safety audits to underwrite safety culture and reporting
- Ensure you are fully conversant with the WJ Logistics scope documents and the location of the activities
- Monitor and improve the standards of WJ teams, putting employees to work, Point of Work Risk Assessment activities and Insight reporting
- Ensure the Health and Safety Compliance Standards of the HPC project are met
- Engage your team collaboratively with the other Tier 1 site integrated H&S teams
- Carry out all duties with full regard to all policies, plans and procedures relevant to the WJ T1 contract
- Share and record best practices and lessons learnt, experience and site issues to allow for continuous improvement
- Responsible for ensuring WJ and Site Occupational Health standards are maintained, and performance is measured
- Responsible for ensuring the WJ and Site Well Being policy has been implemented and reviewed
- Primary investigatory authority when unsafe practices are observed or safety incidents occur (including near-misses)
- Manage documentation in line with WJ site quality procedures
- Manage a formal H&S inspection plan for all managers and leads
- Carry out any other reasonable request as required by your Line Manager
- Work in accordance with WJ and HPC Values
Qualifications Required:
- NEBOSH qualification - preferably general certificate or construction certificate
- CITB H&S test pass certificate for Managers & Professionals
Desirable:
- IOSH Qualification - Ideally member or equivalent
- CSCS Card (professional card - white)
- Knowledge of HPC Site Fire Qualification or experience in fire duties
- SMSTS
- Full UK Driving License
Experience:
- Experience managing a team of H&S professionals
- Strong working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, specific to the construction industry logistics activities
- Strong construction or engineering background
- Demonstrate experience and knowledge of safety in plant and vehicle operations
- Experience working in a multi-disciplined safety-critical environment
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, able to communicate at all levels
- IT literate - Strong electronic communication, spreadsheet, and presentation skills, and competent with all Microsoft Office packages
- An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity in relation to visitors' and employees'
