The Opportunity

In this role, you'll help power An Electric Britain by delivering effective Microsoft 365 solutions that make everyday work easier for our colleagues. You'll deliver Microsoft 365 solutions that simplify work for colleagues and expand our low-code capabilities. As a Product Engineer (Power Platform), you'll use Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse to improve processes and employee experiences. Working in an Agile team with various specialists, you'll help create secure, efficient digital workplace platforms and support the adoption of Microsoft Power Platform. This hands-on position offers growth into senior engineering and leadership roles.

Who You Are

You enjoy solving problems and making technology feel effortless for the people who use it. To be shortlisted, you'll bring:

  • Essential
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience in building Canvas and Model-driven applications, developing Power Automate flows, and designing Dataverse tables, with practical knowledge of solution layering, environment variables, and foundational ALM principles.
  • Proficient in translating business processes into detailed user stories and low-code solutions; adept at utilising backlog management tools and defining acceptance criteria.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 integration patterns, including Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook, as well as familiarity with common connectors and relevant licensing considerations.
  • Working knowledge of security and governance within the Power Platform, including data loss prevention (DLP), permission management, information classification, environment administration, and solution management.
  • Experienced in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), with a track record of supporting iterative releases and promoting collaborative work environments.
  • Skilled in configuring and providing support for Microsoft 365 solutions.
  • Strong grasp of business processes and the role digital solutions play in enhancement and optimisation.
  • Confident in engaging stakeholders, providing guidance on priorities, and aligning technical approaches with business needs.
  • Effective problem-solver with expertise in streamlining processes through low-code technologies.
  • Collaborative team member with clear communication skills, capable of bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Dedicated learner and mentor who actively shares best practices and drives continuous improvement within the team.
  • Desirable
  • Experience with CoPilot Studio, Power Pages, custom connectors, and Azure services (Functions, Key Vault, API Management) for advanced integrations.
  • Exposure to DevOps/ALM for Power Platform (e.g., solution export/import, pipelines, Git).
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow or ITSM integration patterns in a Digital Workplace context.
  • Awareness of WCAG accessibility and inclusive design principles.
  • Familiarity with Power Platform CLI (PAC CLI) for advanced lifecycle management.
  • Have an understanding of the Power Platform Adoption Framework.

Outcomes & Measures of Success

  • Value & adoption: measurable time savings or experience improvements; active usage and satisfaction of target user groups.
  • Quality & reliability: incidents reduced, automated checks in place, repeatable patterns reused across teams.
  • Compliance & cost: solutions comply with governance; conscious licensing choices minimise total cost of ownership.

Growth & Development

This role maps to Framework Level 2–3 with a clear pathway to Senior Product Engineer by expanding solution breadth, coaching peers, standardising practices and shaping platform patterns.

Nice to have Certifications

  • PL100 / PL200 (App Maker / Functional Consultant)
  • PL400 (Developer) or equivalent practical competence

What You'll Be Doing

  • Product delivery & engineering
  • Design and build low-code apps, flows and data models using Power Platform, applying reusable patterns, accessibility guidance and M365 integration best practices (e.g., Teams, SharePoint).
  • Implement robust integrations with enterprise systems and connectors, including service management tooling, with appropriate error handling and logging.
  • Contribute to backlog refinement: translate user needs into clear user stories with acceptance criteria; estimate, sequence and deliver aligned to sprint goals.
  • Own quality for your changes: build test plans, peer review, and, where applicable, introduce automation for flows/components.
  • Security, compliance & operations
  • Apply security and governance controls (DLP, environment strategy, permissions, data retention and information protection labels) and support audit readiness.
  • Release safely via established change processes; prepare rollback plans and deployment checklists.
  • Monitor and support live solutions, analyse incidents and implement preventative improvements.
  • Collaboration & ways of working
  • Work within a cross-functional Agile team, actively contributing to ceremonies and continuous improvement; mentor juniors informally through pairing and reviews.
