Our Scada Technician Apprenticeship offers a starting salary of £16,912 and the chance to achieve a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering and a Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship. This 36-month programme combines practical experience with structured learning, giving you the foundation principles of engineering before moving into specialist wind turbine maintenance, with a focus on SCADA, Control & Automation and OT Systems. These systems are the nerve centre of our Wind Farms, forming a critical part of how all technologies work together to produce safe, clean energy.

You will be joining a fast paced, growing discipline learning critical skills in Control systems, coding, cyber security and networking & applying them on live operational sites to develop a greener future. You'll study full-time at the National College for Nuclear and Clean Energy for the first two years, then join EDF sites for hands-on experience. The programme starts on Tuesday 1st September ****, and you'll play a part in EDF's mission to drive the transition towards An Electric Britain.

Your Work Location

You’ll be based at the National College for Nuclear and Clean Energy in Somerset for the first two years. You’ll then cover a number of our EDF operation locations. Travel will be required, giving you exposure to different operational sites and engineering teams across the UK.

Who You Are

To be eligible for this EDF apprenticeship programme, you need a minimum of five GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above (including Maths, English & a Computing related discipline) or equivalent. You’ll bring a passion for renewable energy, the ability to work independently and in a team, and a commitment to balancing study and work. A full UK driving licence is required by the end of your apprenticeship.

The Assessment Centre will be delivered either virtually or in person. Further details, including the date, will be confirmed in due course.
