The Opportunity
As an Emergency Preparedness Officer at Hinkley Point C, you’ll play an essential part in maintaining and improving emergency arrangements across the site. Reporting to the Emergency Preparedness Lead, you’ll help ensure plans, processes, facilities, and exercises are robust, practical, and ready when needed, supporting EDF’s journey towards An Electric Britain. Alongside a competitive salary starting from £56,000 and potential for an annual bonus, this role is fully site based at Hinkley Point C in Bridgwater, Somerset. You’ll be working on site five days per week, collaborating closely with EDF colleagues, contractors, and external emergency responders in a highly operational environment. This is a role where autonomy, sound judgement, and attention to detail really matter. You’ll build strong relationships across the project, develop your experience within a major regulated construction environment, and contribute directly to protecting people, infrastructure, and operations on one of the UK’s most significant energy projects.
Who You Are
We’re looking for an Emergency Preparedness Officer who’s organised, confident working independently, and comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. To be shortlisted, you need to offer:
- Experience creating, reviewing, and managing formal documentation, plans, and records
- Experience conducting and documenting risk assessments
- Experience organising and managing small projects or initiatives
- Strong ICT skills, including confident use of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience working in construction, health and safety, or similarly regulated environments
- The ability to manage priorities and workload effectively with minimal supervision
What You’ll Be Doing
- Creating, reviewing, and maintaining emergency documentation, maps, and response plans
- Supporting the planning, delivery, and documentation of emergency exercises
- Conducting contractor LC11 inspections and working closely with contractor emergency leads
- Maintaining emergency facilities, equipment, resources, and training records
- Collating and managing emergency preparedness data, statistics, and reports
