The Opportunity
As an OH Shift Nurse, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of occupational health services on site, helping colleagues stay safe, healthy, and supported in a fast-paced operational environment. You’ll work closely with an Occupational Health Advisor, delivering medicals, health surveillance, and wellbeing support that keeps our site running safely and efficiently. You’ll join us on a salary starting of 40,084 per annum plus a shift allowance of 12,760. This is an onsite role based at our Torness site, where you’ll work shifts as part of a small team providing essential health support to operational colleagues. From emergency response support to promoting healthy lifestyles, your work will make a meaningful impact every day. You’ll also be part of our wider mission, supporting EDF’s journey towards An Electric Britain by helping ensure a safe and resilient workforce.
Who You Are
As an Occupational Health Shift Nurse, you’re a qualified and capable professional who works with confidence, care, and integrity. You’re comfortable working independently and as part of a small team, with a strong focus on safety, confidentiality, and high-quality clinical practice.
- Minimum requirements:
- Registered nurse qualification with some post qualification experience
- Good understanding of medical confidentiality, ethics, and accountability
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a small team
- Health promotion and lifestyle advice capability
- Clinical skills including ECG, venepuncture, urinalysis, blood pressure monitoring. Audiometry, spirometry, HAVs assessment, skin surveillance and decontamination would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given.
The following requirements would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided:
- First Aid or FREC 3
- Display Screen Equipment Assessor qualification
- Drugs and Alcohol testing competency
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering occupational health medicals, health surveillance, and screening activities within required timeframes
- Carrying out drug and alcohol testing as a trained collection officer
- Supporting employee wellbeing through health advice, screening, and lifestyle guidance
- Maintaining accurate health records while ensuring strict medical confidentiality
- Supporting emergency response and first aid requirements on site
Pay, Benefits and Culture
Alongside a starting salary of 40,084 per annum plus an annual shift allowance of 12,760, with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.
