EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 and responsible for the design and construction of nuclear islands for new projects in France and internationally. EDF EPR Engineering UK is particularly responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project, as well as the duplication of the design and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) project.
In this context, EDF EPR Engineering UK is recruiting an IT Technician as part of a VIE. The IT Technician works within the GSI (IT Systems Management) team and provides user IT support, workstation management, and technical assistance to colleagues. The role also contributes to the quality of IT service through documentation, incident tracking, and operational communication with users. The position reports to the IT Team Lead and collaborates with other IT technicians, the IT Support Team Coordinator, the IT Support Project Coordinator, the IT Support Collaboration Coordinator, and business users.
Responsibilities- Provide level 1 and 2 IT user support (incidents and requests).
- Diagnose, analyse, and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Assist users with workstations, peripherals, and office tools.
- Escalate complex incidents when necessary.
- Install, configure, and maintain workstations (Windows).
- Address issues related to systems, local networks, and user access.
- Participate in account, rights, and IT equipment management.
- Contribute to the management of the IT asset inventory.
- Use simple scripts to automate certain IT tasks (PowerShell, Python).
- Participate in improving technical processes through automation.
- Maintain and document used scripts.
- Contribute to the writing and updating of technical and user documentation.
- Ensure clear communication with users during interventions and incidents.
- Participate in capitalising on solutions and best practices.
- Engage in discussions during IT sessions.
The ideal candidate should have a user support orientation, with initial experience in an IT environment, capable of intervening on workstations, assisting users daily, and contributing to the quality of IT service. Comfortable in an international environment, the candidate should be able to communicate with non-technical users and collaborate with IT teams and users.
Qualifications- Education level Bac+2/+3 in computer science, information systems, or equivalent field.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience (including internships and apprenticeships) as an IT user support technician.
- Fluent English required (B2 level) to operate in an international environment.
- Advanced knowledge of IT technologies: workstations, AD, Office 365, systems, and networks.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software incidents.
- Initial experience or interest in scripting (PowerShell, Python).
- Knowledge of CAD software is a plus.
- Good written and oral communication skills in English and French.
- Service-oriented, meticulous, and analytical mindset.
- Able to work in a team and interact with non-technical users.
- Familiarity with IT support and ticketing tools (ITSM such as ServiceNow or Jira appreciated).
- Interest in technical documentation, solution capitalisation, and continuous improvement of IT services.
