We have a fantastic opportunity for an Appointed Person to join the team at Hinkley Point C. Our Nuclear and Infrastructure division has extensive experience in the specialist, highly regulated nuclear, transport (road and rail), process industries and power and energy sectors. Providing award-winning design teams, utilising state-of-the-art design software and Tekla detailing facilities to offer customers value engineering. This gives a mix of proven success along with modern, innovative design and fabrication ideas to be able to provide a quality, specialised service to a growing market.

As the Appointed Person, you will be required to plan, supervise, and coordinate all lifting operations on site in accordance with lift plans, RAMS, and statutory regulations. You will ensure all lifting activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures and legal requirements, and act as the competent person for lifting operations and liaise with site teams to ensure lifting tasks are executed to programme.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and approve lift plans in accordance with LOLER and company procedures.
  • Ensure all lifting operations are risk assessed and carried out by competent personnel.
  • Liaise with site management, crane operators, slinger/signallers, and other stakeholders to coordinate lifting activities.
  • Conduct pre-lift briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure lifting equipment is inspected, certified, and fit for purpose.
  • Monitor lifting operations to ensure compliance with safety standards and lift plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of lifting operations and associated documentation.
  • Report any incidents, near misses, or unsafe practices immediately.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on lifting operations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example.

Experience and qualifications:

  • CPCS Appointed Person (Lifting Operations) – A61
  • Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC)
  • NVQ Level 5 in Lifting Operations
  • CSCS Card
  • SMSTS
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Construction or Engineering
  • First Aid (desirable)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in lifting operations, including planning and supervising complex lifts, along with experience of Temporary Works Coordination.
  • Proven track record of working with mobile and tower cranes, lifting accessories, and heavy plant.
