If so, we are currently seeking a Technical Support and Safety Training Instructor at Heysham 1 Power Station, to join the Performance Improvement Department on a permanent basis. If you feel your skill set would suit this role, then we would love to hear from you!
The Opportunity
As part of the Performance Improvement Department, training instructors are responsible for the development and delivery of initial training of new staff to meet the resourcing needs of the station. They further facilitate organisational learning and deepen knowledge and skill in support of safe, reliable performance of the plant by ensuring that station staff receive world class continuing, refresher, performance improvement and development training.
This instructor role will be aligned to our Technical Support and Safety training programme which focusses on the understanding, skills and process awareness associated with environmental engineers and technicians, nuclear safety engineers and industrial safety.
In addition to managing the assigned programme, you will have the opportunity to be involved in developing and delivering training across a broad range of topics, to support the station in addressing wider training needs whenever these are identified.
Pay, Benefits And Culture
We are offering a starting salary of between £45,641 and £81,263 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualification. What You’ll Be Doing
Training instructors will produce and deliver high quality technical training in line with their areas of accountability. Training will be produced and implemented systematically to ensure it is effective and supporting safe, reliable generation.
Principal Accountabilities
To implement all phases of the Systematic Approach to Training to support SQEP compliance, continual plant operation and personnel performance improvement.
- Produce and coordinate a training plan for initial and continuing training within your assigned work scope.
- Support organisational learning through active membership of the associated training committees.
- Support internal and external audits and maintain high standards across the training programmes.
- Identify and complete training needs assessments for applications across the station.
- Delivery of your training program, striving for world class implementation.
- Frequent interaction with your associated student population and its stakeholders outside of the classroom to ensure their training is kept relevant and help with line engagement.
Who You Are
Individuals will hold a relevant qualification at minimum HNC level or equivalent.
Knowledge of Environmental and/or Nuclear safety processes and skills is beneficial but not essential.
Experience or formal qualification in adult education would be advantageous.
An understanding of the company systematic approach to training (SAT) would be advantageous.
Excellent interpersonal / relationship building / communication skills are expected. This is essential to not only engage your students but also to manage the key stakeholders of the program such as line managers.
All instructors would be expected to become Fleet Certified Instructors (company qualification) and formal training will be given to attain the Fleet Certified qualification.
Has a track record of producing creative engaging solutions to training delivery.
Capable of being proactive and self-sufficient, with high levels of ownership during problem resolution.
