About The Role
We have a vacancy for a Security Guard working on site on a shift rota (working days and nights). We are seeking a dedicated, proactive and vigilant Shift Security Guard to support the delivery of high security standards on our nuclear power station site in Heysham. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of the site security plan and ensuring compliance with Site Licence arrangements.
The Opportunity
The salary range associated with this role is between ÂŁ35,059 to ÂŁ45,641. The starting salary on appointment will be ÂŁ35,059. We also offer an attractive pension scheme along with some great company benefits.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the secure entry and exit of personnel and vehicles, ensuring compliance with site access protocols
- Conduct regular patrols and inspections across the site, including searching of individuals and vehicles in line with security procedures
- Act as the first point of contact for visitors, providing a professional and customer-focused service
- Work collaboratively as part of a supportive and effective team, contributing to the overall safety and security of the site
- Respond to incidents and emergencies in line with established procedures
- Collaborate with site personnel and CNC to uphold safety and security standards
Who You Are
The successful candidate will be able to respond with tact and discretion, demonstrating a clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality. They will also possess the ability to produce detailed, accurate, and meaningful verbal and written reports on both specific and routine incidents. Candidates should have a proven track record of being proactive and working collaboratively within a supportive and high-performing team environment.
Applicants must demonstrate a flexible approach to work duties and cover arrangements, along with a clear understanding of the importance of maintaining high security standards while keeping business needs in focus. As a minimum, applicants will be educated to GCSE/national qualification standards (or equivalent). Candidates with these qualifications that include “c” and above grade passes in English and Mathematics will have an advantage.
To comply with the Emergency Scheme arrangements, staff should live within 25 miles (30 minutes) of Heysham 2 Power Station.
