About The Role

Are you ready to shape the future of nuclear energy while championing world‑class safety standards? At Hinkley Point C, we’re looking for a Senior Health & Safety Manager who thrives on complexity, leads with integrity, and is passionate about creating a safe and inclusive environment for thousands of workers. This is your chance to make a lasting impact on one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects.

The Opportunity

Hinkley Point C is building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK, providing low‑carbon electricity for around six million homes.

As a senior member of the HPC Site Construction management team, you’ll report directly to the Head of Construction Health & Safety. You’ll be instrumental in setting and maintaining the highest standards of health, wellbeing, and safety across the site. You’ll work closely with Tier 1 contractors and EDF teams to drive continuous improvement, deliver consistent safety messaging, and coach senior managers to elevate their safety culture. Your leadership will help shape the future of safe construction practices in the nuclear sector.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

Competitive salary plus a benefits package that includes a company pension scheme, car allowance, bonus package, enhanced parental leave, electric vehicle leasing, health insurance, technology vouchers, gym membership, and season ticket loans. EDF UK offers flexible working arrangements and promotes an inclusive environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Act as the trusted deputy to the Head of Construction Health & Safety, managing departmental activities and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
  • Resolve emerging site safety issues and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Oversee development and implementation of Principal Contractor arrangements, tailored to the evolving risk profile of the site.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to drive innovation, harvest best practices, and lead improvement programmes that enhance safety and wellbeing.
  • Manage relationships with regulators such as the ONR, support emergency response planning, and oversee departmental budgets.
  • Develop a strong nuclear safety culture and ensure your team is trained, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Who You Are

  • Strategic thinker with deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards nationally and internationally.
  • Proven ability to build trust‑based relationships across diverse teams and influence stakeholders at all levels from site operatives to senior executives.
  • Experience on large or medium‑scale construction projects, preferably within EPC environments, and comfortable navigating complex regulatory landscapes including CDM Regulations and nuclear site licence conditions.
  • Chartered membership (or working towards) of a recognised HSE organisation and hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • Results‑driven mindset, behavioural leadership expertise, emergency response planning skills and ability to manage high‑performing teams in dynamic environments.
  • Passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and high‑performing workplace.

Closing date for applications: Sunday, 25 January.
