Sizewell C is entering an exciting phase of growth as we mature into an independent organisation and continue building one of the UK's largest and most important energy projects.

As the Nuclear Compliance Senior Lead, you will play a central role within the Regulatory and Licensing team, providing functional assurance that the project continues to meet its obligations under the Nuclear Site Licence. You will support SZC Ltd's engagement with both the internal regulator and external regulatory authorities, helping to maintain a strong, credible, and transparent regulatory interface throughout the project lifecycle.

This position requires deep knowledge of nuclear regulatory requirements, strong leadership capability, and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will act as a trusted source of expertise, guiding the organisation in demonstrating robust compliance and maintaining high standards of regulatory performance.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead the oversight programme that assures compliance with the nuclear site licence, maintaining a robust and effective framework that supports Licence Condition Owners across the business.
  • Act as the organisation's authority on nuclear site licence compliance, providing clear, expert advice and guidance to teams and senior leaders.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with Licence Condition Managers to ensure consistent understanding, implementation, and demonstration of compliance.
  • Work closely with the internal regulator and with external regulatory authorities to maintain open, constructive, and transparent engagement.
  • Plan and deliver proportionate, risk informed surveillance, assessments, and interventions to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of arrangements.
  • Monitor and report on nuclear site licence compliance performance, ensuring clear communication of trends, issues, and improvements to regulatory bodies.
  • Work closely with other compliance functions including security, environmental protection, and quality to maintain a fully integrated and comprehensive assurance position for the company.
  • Identify areas for improvement and support the development of enhanced arrangements, behaviours, and processes that strengthen compliance culture.
  • Stay informed of regulatory expectations, industry developments, and emerging best practice to ensure the organisation remains aligned with current standards.
  • Contribute to the promotion of a strong safety, compliance, and continuous improvement culture across the business.

Join the team at Sizewell C. Our vision is to Lead The Way On Nuclear. The Sizewell C team is one of the most exciting and largest new megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. We have begun constructing a 3.2-gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast in the East of England replicating the design used for Hinkley Point C, another nuclear power station being built in Somerset.

When built, Sizewell C will be one of the largest power stations to operate in the UK. The power station will generate low carbon electricity for at least 60 years, supplying over 6 million homes and supporting around 7% of the UK’s current electricity needs.

We are the first nuclear power station in the UK to be funded under the Regulated Asset Base funding model (RAB). Our largest shareholder is the UK Government, alongside equity partners La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.
