Company & Role

Engineering and Technical Project Manager

Location: 2 days a week in Bristol (hybrid working arrangements possible) with infrequent visits to other Sizewell C offices.

Employment type: Permanent full-time.

Working pattern: We operate on an office-based contract model, but support hybrid working where possible. This means you\\\’ll need to be based within reasonable travel distance of the office and able to attend in person when business needs require. Flexibility to be on site when needed is essential.

Salary: £79,000 – £95,000, dependent on experience. There is also a bonus up to 10%, a market leading pension (up to 15% employee contributions) and other flexible benefits including enhanced parental leave, electric vehicle leasing, health care screening, product discounts, critical illness insurance, gym membership, season ticket loans and more.

The Opportunity

We\\\’re looking for an Engineering and Technical Project Manager to oversee the management of Sizewell C\\\’s most high profile and complex technical & engineering risks and lead on their resolution.

This is a rewarding and highly regarded role within Sizewell C, recognised within other nuclear licensees, that could lead to further exciting career opportunities within the EPR fleet.

Following on from the success of the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C (HPC), the Sizewell C Project (SZC) in Suffolk is the UK\\\’s next nuclear power new build project. The project has obtained planning approval and has started construction works. It has recently achieved Financial Investment Decision (FID) meaning that all the funding for the full lifespan of the project is now secured and in place guaranteeing the full delivery of this new nuclear power station. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

The Role

Technical Risk, Opportunity and Resolution. You will be working with a range of stakeholders to identify and then manage the resolution of some of Sizewell C\\\’s highest priority technical topics. You will work within Sizewell C\\\’s Technical Directorate and report to the Technical Risk, Opportunity and Resolution Manager.

Communication is key. You will understand exactly who the critical internal and external stakeholders are and will facilitate effective communication to support a structured and consistent approach to issue resolution. You will set up and lead multi-disciplinary teams and be the link between technical teams, senior leadership and key stakeholders, ensuring smooth coordination and facilitating complex and strategic technical decision making.

Every day is different. You will be working in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Your scope will be varied and always include interesting challenges.

Delivery focused. You will understand schedule constraints, identify key milestones and drive implementation plans for efficient risk resolution.

You will be part of a collective effort to champion Sizewell C\\\’s replication strategy whilst taking into consideration the balance of risk and opportunity. It is a highly collaborative role, requiring strong communication skills, strong stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and the ability to navigate complex challenges in a fast-paced environment.

About You

Strong communication skills – you can engage confidently with a diverse group of stakeholders and present technical information to senior leaders clearly and succinctly.

You are a natural problem-solver – you can quickly identify emerging issues and implement practical solutions to maintain momentum.

You are highly organised – you are able to juggle multiple tasks, set clear priorities, and coordinate across teams.

The Skills

  • Experience working in large engineering and/or infrastructure projects.
  • Background or degree in engineering (or a related discipline).
  • Project management experience in a relevant industry.
  • Knowledge of Technical Risk Management processes.
  • Excellent communication skills in client-facing and contractor facing situations.
  • Highly organised and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in IT skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in the civil nuclear industry.
  • An existing network within Hinkley Point C or Sizewell C will be hugely beneficial.
