Working in our Enterprise IT function you’ll be supporting our business to deliver their priorities and objectives. You’ll be contributing to Helping Britain Achieve Net Zero. The Opportunity
Reporting to the Enterprise Product Manager in the Enterprise Platform team, the Platform Technical Lead will provide technical leadership, guide engineering practices and ensure our solutions align with long‑term architectural principles and business objectives. Our Enterprise Platform practice ensures our systems are robust, secure, and future‑ready. The team collaborates closely with colleagues in engineering, security, service management, business units and product teams to solve complex challenges, reduce technical risk, and unlock innovation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- You’ll form part of the technical authority for our Enterprise services – spanning compute, storage, virtualisation, middleware, and core infrastructure components.
- You’ll guide technical decision making, shape engineering standards, and provide leadership to help platform teams deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions that underpin our most critical systems.
- You’ll raise and monitor technical risks and support mitigation planning with Enterprise product managers and owners.
- You’ll collaborate closely with product teams, security, and operational teams to ensure our enterprise platforms remain stable, performant, and future‑ready.
- You’ll ensure high availability and performance of critical systems through proactive capacity planning and robust operational practices.
- You’ll oversee the lifecycle of on‑prem infrastructure: provisioning, configuration, automation, monitoring, and optimisation.
- You’ll engage with business units to understand their service priorities and recovery readiness including regular testing regimes.
- You’ll work closely with our partner organisations to ensure services are consistently maintained.
Who You Are
- Strong expertise in Unix compute and/or storage platforms.
- Knowledge of traditional and modern on‑premises architectures.
- Familiarity with monitoring and management tools.
- Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks and operational best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and experience handling high‑severity incidents.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain complex issues to non‑technical audiences.
- Experience leading infrastructure migrations or hardware refresh initiatives.
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
- Working collaboratively with the wider Enterprise Platform team and business colleagues to create a great place to work.

Pay, Benefits and Culture
Salary starts from £57,600 per annum (depending on experience), with potential for an annual bonus. This is a hybrid working role that balances time at home and on site, with occasional travel to our offices within the UK.
