Work Engineering Group Engineer (Work Order Specifier) in Bridgwater

HPC is one of four EPR Technology Power Stations and has close links with EDF Energy’s existing nuclear business (NGL). As part of the development and implementation of the HPC operational strategy, it is important to embed the lessons learned from the other EPR Technology Power Stations and NGL.

The role is based within the Work Management team under commissioning operations, which is a part of the HPC Project. Commissioning Operations are responsible for delivering the commissioning activities and operational capability for HPC, ensuring that the future operating organisation, including people, working arrangements, equipment, facilities and documents are ready for when HPC starts generating electricity. You will be joining the Work Management team within Comm-ops who are primarily responsible for the preparation and planning of commissioning and maintenance activities on site.

You will report to the Work Management WEG Lead and support the development of routine maintenance activities for the operational station within the Enterprise Asset Management System. Collaborating with the Engineering team, you’ll help define maintenance requirements through accurate specification of Work Order Cards.

The Work Management team will grow and evolve to support the Hinkley Point C (HPC) Nuclear Power Plant to be constructed, commissioned, operated safely and effectively within the UK regulatory framework. We are seeking highly organised and proactive individuals to join the work management team. You will help in the development and implementation of the Work Management process and tools. Creating, reviewing and approving work orders for commissioning, preventative and reactive maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple objectives simultaneously.

You will build your knowledge of a pressurised water reactor, gaining experience from the UK fleet and other Nuclear New Build projects as you work within the commissioning operations programme. You will have the opportunity to also provide technical oversight during the construction and commissioning phases to build knowledge of Nuclear and Conventional systems. Your area of focus will depend on business need, previous experience and career aspirations. You will be supported and have access to the necessary training and technical documentation required to fulfil your role, with the support of the Lead Engineer and relevant experts within the business.

Principal Accountabilities

• The WEG engineer will report to Work Management WEG (Work Engineering Group) Lead.
• Support the development of routine maintenance into the Enterprise Asset Management System.
• Work closely with the Engineering team to understand and produce the routine maintenance requirements for systems on the operational station.
• Be involved and provide input into the development of the Enterprise Asset Management tool.
• Provide input into the development of standards, procedures and arrangements which support safe and reliable operation and maintenance activities in line with WANO AP928 document.
• Work closely with the commissioning team to improve the efficient production of both team’s processes and deliverables.
• Support the development and delivery of Work Management processes and procedures.

Who You Are

• You will have a Maintenance and/or engineering background with a relevant degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with Maintenance Manuals and System Design Manuals, including Engineering Drawings.
• Experience in using and writing maintenance instructions in a regulated industrial environment.
• Experience in conducting and documenting risk assessments.
• Strong organizational and IT skills.
• Clear and effective written communication skills.
• Experience with commissioning processes or experience with commissioning activities on a nuclear site.
• Understanding of WANO AP928 document and other work management processes.
• Experience in operating key asset management tools e.g. Asset Suite (Asset Management System), data reporting tools and Microsoft applications.
• Familiarity with the APSA (Authorised Persons Safety Assessment) process.
• Awareness of a nuclear power station’s license conditions and compliance regulations.

Additionally, you must meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which generally requires you to have been a UK resident for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
