The Opportunity

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of mechanical systems supporting major nuclear infrastructure. Working at Hinkley Point C, you’ll contribute directly to the safe and efficient construction of next‑generation nuclear reactors, helping drive progress across critical systems while developing your own engineering expertise in a highly regulated environment. Your work will support EDF’s journey towards An Electric Britain, helping deliver reliable, low‑carbon power to millions of homes.

EDF EPR Engineering UK delivers the design for nuclear island buildings, systems, and equipment for Hinkley Point C and similar projects. Working as part of an integrated team, EPR Engineering supports construction and commissioning while preparing design‑replication feasibility and related engineering activities.

You’ll join us on a salary starting in the range of c. £55,000 depending on experience. This hybrid role is based at Hinkley Point C near Bridgwater, with flexible working arrangements, typically requiring around three days per week on site alongside remote working.

Within this role, you’ll develop your capabilities across mechanical design, stress analysis, and equipment assessment while interacting with a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll gain exposure to complex engineering challenges, work closely with international teams and suppliers, and contribute to resolving technical issues across construction and manufacturing. With opportunities to broaden your technical scope and potentially take on coordination responsibilities, this is a role that supports both professional growth and meaningful project impact.

Who You Are

  • Experience in specification, design, procurement, or installation of engineering components
  • Ability to perform mechanical calculations, including stress analysis or equipment anchorage assessments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation
  • Experience reviewing or supporting engineering deliverables and resolving technical queries across stakeholders

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting mechanical studies by reviewing, clarifying, and progressing engineering deliverables
  • Performing stress analysis and equipment anchorage assessments, including hand calculations
  • Investigating and resolving technical issues arising during manufacturing, construction, and installation
  • Reviewing subcontractor calculations and drawings to ensure compliance with project standards
  • Collaborating with designers, suppliers, and stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams
