About The Role

Ready to power up your future with purpose? At EDF, Success is Personal. Your journey is yours to shape, and we’ll support you every step of the way. During the 16-month programme you’ll rotate through placements across our nuclear business, gain hands-on experience, develop technical and professional skills, and contribute to real-world projects – from modelling reactor core behaviour to supporting the development of Hinkley Point C. You’ll work towards professional accreditation with institutions such as the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), fully supported by EDF.

You’ll earn a salary of £37,500 per annum and have opportunities to shape a career that aligns with EDF’s net zero goals. The programme includes rotations, exposure to different teams, and the chance to contribute to projects with real impact on clean energy in the UK.

The Opportunity

Over the course of the programme you’ll rotate through placements, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to projects across our nuclear business, including modelling and analysis related to nuclear fuel performance and safety case development.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Use and develop advanced modelling tools such as ENIGMA to support nuclear fuel performance analysis
  • Analyse severe accident modelling data and contribute to safety case development for new nuclear sites
  • Apply Finite Element Analysis techniques to assess reactor core behaviour
  • Collaborate with EDF R&D teams on extreme condition modelling for Hinkley Point C
  • Support the operational readiness of new nuclear power stations

Your Work Location

You’ll be based at one of our key sites – Gloucester, Bristol, Bridgwater, Hartlepool or Sizewell – with the flexibility to rotate across locations depending on placements. Roles generally require 3–5 days per week on site; we’ll provide practical and financial support to facilitate moves.

Who You Are

To be eligible for this EDF graduate programme, you should have achieved, or be expecting to achieve, a 2:2 or higher in a Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Maths, Science, Radiological Protection, Hazards or a related subject. You’ll need strong communication and problem-solving skills and a genuine interest in nuclear energy and technology.

Security Vetting

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which typically requires residency in the UK for at least three of the past five years.

Pay, Benefits And Culture
