The Opportunity

We’re hiring a Fire Safety Coordinator at Torness Station to lead fire prevention, ensuring staff and plant safety in full compliance with legal standards.

You’ll monitor fire safety performance using site metrics, identify areas for improvement, and drive cross-functional initiatives. Collaboration with fleet peers will be key to aligning with best practices.

Pay, Benefits And Culture

The salary range associated with this role is between ÂŁ45,641 – 95,993 however the starting salary for this appointment will be within the range of ÂŁ45,641 – ÂŁ68,958 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

What You Will Be Doing

You will ensure that fire safety policies and procedures meet relevant requirements, by supporting the corporate team with their development. You will provide oversight of the station’s fire detection, suppression, fire barriers, emergency lighting, and fire warning systems, working with the relevant members of engineering to ensure they remain effective and fit for purpose, as well as oversee hot working and evacuation procedures. Your role will involve ensuring all fire risk assessments are completed and reviewed in line with regulations, championing the efficient close out of any FRA recommendation identified through the station’s Continuous Improvement Programme.

You will collaborate and work with all departments, providing advice and safety knowledge. Your oversight of fire safety activities will ensure regular and comprehensive auditing is completed, maintaining the highest standards of fire safety across the site.

Who You Are

You will hold, or be working towards, an advanced Fire Safety diploma (or equivalent qualification) and have knowledge of statutory legislation relevant to Nuclear Power Station Operation, Site Licence requirements, fire safety legislation, and environmental policy. You will be proficient in the use of appropriate management systems, particularly in work management, action tracking, engineering change, and controlled documents.

We’re looking for candidates with experience in managing engineering changes within complex industrial environments, along with a solid understanding of how fire safety integrates into broader safety regulations. Familiarity with key site services such as water, steam, gas, oil, chemicals, and electrical systems is essential.

Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) membership and experience in plant operating, emergency service, maintenance, or engineering are both desirable.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
