About The Role

Finance Analyst — Heysham 1 Power Station. Join the Commercial Department on an 18-month Fixed Term Contract. If your skill set fits, we would love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

As a Finance Analyst, you’ll work alongside the Finance Lead and Management Accountant as part of a small but well-established finance function within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, budgetary control and staff cost forecasting. This is a great opportunity to work as part of a larger Commercial Team in delivering strong financial management for Heysham 1.

Pay, Benefits And Culture

Starting salary between ÂŁ35,059 and ÂŁ48,943, with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary depends on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. What You’ll Be Doing

Framework & Boundaries — The role requires a commercially focused, proactive, flexible thinker with a core understanding of financial principles. You will combine technical and financial expertise with strong interpersonal and multi-tasking skills, ensuring accurate and robust cost information and direct responsibility for challenging the business. You will produce accurate monthly accounts, maintain key financial controls, and liaise with other departments to provide accurate forecasts of in-year spend. The Finance Analyst provides support to the Finance Lead to challenge, assure and report robust financial information to support decision-making by the HY1 Leadership team and external stakeholders.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the monthly financial reporting cycle, including data collation, calculation of monthly accruals, business partnering and challenging functional teams to ensure robustness and auditability of financial information.
  • Review and collate planning, budgeting and forecasting information, challenging assumptions and decisions to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Provide insight and input into the presentation of timely, accurate and relevant management information.
  • Challenge budget holders on financial decisions and identify opportunities for cost savings with a core mindset of “Value for Money” and Financial Control.
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners to ensure staff cost information is reported accurately and robustly.
  • Support periodic cost/financial controls verification processes.
  • Implement best-practice financial behaviours and support the finance team in driving a strong culture of cost control and value for money.

Essential

Who you are

  • Part-Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW, etc.) or suitably qualified by experience
  • Strong financial modelling skills
  • Experience in planning, budgeting & forecasting
  • Ability to coordinate financial activities (e.g., monthly reporting or business planning)
  • Strong management information analysis and reporting, presentation, problem solving and decision support skills
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships across functions at a senior level

Desirable

  • Experience of financial systems (SAP)
  • Experience of working with payroll
  • Commercial awareness and knowledge of the energy sector
