Take a leading role in developing EDFT’s market views, models and processes to support gas trading:
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Work closely with colleagues in the gas analytics team, gas data engineers and gas traders, and other EDFT colleagues around the world, to develop models to further the desk’s understanding of short- and medium-term fundamental dynamics for Global and European markets
- In particular, having lead responsibility for maintaining and enhancing the existing suite of analytical tools for the European gas market, and leading the development of an EDFT model for the US gas market, as well as working with the LNG gas analysts to integrate the European gas market into the EDFT model of the global gas market.
- Develop trading ideas based on analysis of fundamentals, statistics and option pricing
- Maintain a superior level of quantitative rigor in analysis and closely monitor accuracy of analytical output over time, supporting more junior colleagues to perform to high professional standards .
- Develop tools to monitor market developments and implied gas balances.
- Effectively communicate views and findings to gas traders and analysts, and to other EDFT trader, analysts and management.
- Willingness to be flexible and adjust to changing conditions – the list of responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be subject to change!
Experience required
- 10 or more years of experience in the gas market
- Experience as an analyst in a gas trading environment, responsible for developing and running analytical tools and translating analytical insights into actionable recommendations
- Experience of taking responsibility in an analytical team and supporting more junior colleagues to develop and perform at a professional standard
- Experience and a strong understanding of both European gas and LNG markets
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and other quantitative techniques
Technical requirements
- Advanced degree in engineering, sciences, math, finance, or economics or equivalent experience or relevant real-world experience
- Advanced skills in a combination of Excel, SQL, Python and statistics
