Department Gas Flex desk trades and provides prices in all non-linear products across gas hubs, for both EDF group and external customers. Products traded include physical storages, virtual storages/swing, vanilla options, non-standard options etc.
Main responsibilities:
- Provide the Flex Desk with trading opportunities through quantitative, technical and fundamental analysis.
- Ability to buy and run physical gas storages and interconnection pipelines.
- Ability to price and understand options (vanilla and non-standard) and generate trade ideas.
- Maintain a detailed knowledge of operation pipeline interconnection and gas storages.
- Closely collaborate with traders, analysts and meteorologists to understand short and long‑term forecasts and pricing dynamics.
- Understand the trading strategies implemented by the senior trader and help manage the strategies.
- Any other duties as directed by your manager among which could be: spreadsheet maintenance, additional analysis, and other related projects.
This role is subject to the Front Office Supervision Procedures and you are required to adhere to them at all times and attest that you have read and understood them on an annual basis. Hold a thorough knowledge of all necessary regulatory codes and agreements relevant to the markets. This list is not exhaustive and may include other tasks assigned by the manager.
Experience required:
- Graduate level in an analytically-based discipline i.e. finance, maths, economics, science or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years prior experience in gas trading, experience in storages or options would also be beneficial.
- Candidate should have good working knowledge of the gas/energy markets.
Technical requirements:
- Strong IT skills (advanced Excel and programming skills).
- Working knowledge of Bloomberg / Reuters.
