Department Continental Europe Power Trading
Position purpose and main responsibilities
- Help to coordinate proprietary trading activity across the Spanish Power Desk and the Nordic Power Desk in line with commercial objectives.
- Develop profitable trading strategies and assist with managing the executions of those positions.
- Primarily focused on execution of a collaboratively built strategy, but growing into an expert and increasingly assuming responsibility for managing complex trades.
- Define trading and portfolio optimisation strategy and developments.
- Ongoing project responsibilities, including maintaining and developing tools to enhance the desk’s operational capabilities.
- Cooperate with the wider commercial team to advance the commercial objectives.
- Cooperate with the analyst team to improve the understanding of optimization models with particular focus on hydro assets.
- Maintain accurate P&L validations and controls.
This role is subject to the Front Office Supervision Procedures and you are required to adhere to them at all times and attest that you have read and understood them on an annual basis.
Experience required
- 0 – 3 years’ experience of working in the Power markets.
Technical requirements
- Must have modelling, coding and tool building capabilities (Python, VBA, SQL/MongoDB required).
- In depth knowledge of Short Term Power Markets.
- Understanding of optimization of hydro assets.
- Experience of working in a fast paced environment.
- Understanding of trade lifecycle and risk controls.
