Job Description:

Position purpose The IT Front Office Delivery team supports a wide range commercial activities that are key to EDF Trading's success. The IT team works on a wide range of bespoke in-house built systems that assist with Decision Support and Front Office Process Automation, as well as more rudimentary control systems for core trading activities. We work in a highly collaborative style with the commercial functions, aiming to build products and harvest quick wins which enable the Trading Desks.

The Front Office BA will work closely with the IT Delivery Team Leads to deliver and manage BAU and project streams. The majority of focus is on Power and Gas Trading systems. The teams are product and user aligned, and are responsible for key core areas of delivery:

  • Front Office Process Automation
  • Front Office Decision Support
  • Front Office Analytics and Execution

As a BA you will be expected to work across any of these teams. There is as much focus on analytical tools as the ETRM. The BA will be expected to manage project delivery as a light PM and Product Owner.

You have the skills and ability to:

  • Work collaboratively and bring parties together from within IT and the commercial functions.
  • Work directly with the front office teams, have a customer-first approach being able to communicate effectively with different levels and disciplines within the organisation.
  • Own problems, make fast decisions, cope with the unknown and have the ability to acquire new knowledge quickly.
  • Manage, enable and empower technical teams.
  • Understand and manage/pre-empt development life cycle risks while also having an appreciation for high-level architecture.
  • Project Management, Product definition and Functional Testing are all key skills.
  • Assist in new business onboarding and understanding the impact of business change.
  • Manage product backlogs and define product visions.

You are also:

  • Motivated to acquire new knowledge.
  • Highly motivated to complete projects and 'go the extra mile' to achieve positive outcomes for the business.
  • A very proactive individual able to handle multiple projects/work packages simultaneously.

Great if you also:

  • Knowledge of the European Power and Gas commodity markets, including market fundamentals, trade instrument types.
  • Energy trading lifecycle / activities and teams.

Hybrid role with a minimum of three days in the office.

Technical requirements

  • Experience of the development life cycle - with bespoke software.
  • Proficient in writing SQL queries.
  • Comfortable in Excel.
