Scaffold Designer Engineer in Somerset

A vital member of the existing Scaffold and Temporary Works Design Team, filling a middle level role. The anticipation is for the candidate to mature into the role and ultimately assume guidance and mentor role for the next candidate intake.

Accountabilities:

• Act as a Design Engineer for the MEH Alliance scope of works at Hinkley Point C nuclear new build power station.
• Production of drawings using the latest AutoCAD and other Autodesk software.
• Creation of detailed engineering calculations in accordance with the relevant British and European standards using structural analysis software where required.
• Liaison with the MEH Alliance partners, operational supervisors and client representatives to ensure optimum solutions are reached.
• Production of all relevant documentation in adherence with company and MEH Alliance procedures along with CDM regulations.
• Provision of guidance, advice and technical support where applicable.
• Checking of designs in accordance with BS5975.

Requirements:

• HNC, HND or Degree in civil, mechanical or structural engineering.
• I.T. literate and fully proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. A working knowledge of structural analysis software would be a distinct advantage.
• 2 years experience in the design of scaffolding structures.
• Problem solver, organised, ability to prioritise and deliver within a high-paced environment.
• Commitment drive and the ability to work on one's own initiative.
• Proven track record in nuclear power preferred.
• Experience working on major construction projects.
• Experienced in delivering and operating as a Team Lead, including experience working within Joint Ventures.
• Positive, can-do mentality.
• Proven track record of success.
• Strong leader with collaborative nature.
• Ability to reach sensible compromise position.
• Strong focus on team performance, training, mentoring and integration with client and Alliance teams.
