Rigger ENKA UK, Hinkley Point C
Monday to Friday – 07:00 to 17:30, 10 hour shift, 50 hours per week.
Main Duties
- Examining and assessing loads to determine the best way to move and lift them safely and efficiently.
- Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability.
- Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools.
- Select appropriate rigging equipment such as cables, ropes, slings, chains, winches and pulleys according to load weights and sizes, ensuring they are secure and in good condition.
- Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain blocks, gin poles, gallows frames and other equipment.
- Operate lifting equipment and guide the load during movement.
- Tilt, dip and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under or around obstacles, using multi‑point suspension techniques.
- Install ground rigging for yarding lines, attaching chokers to logs and then to the lines.
- Align, level and anchor machinery.
- Fabricate, set up and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists and pulling gear, using hand and power tools.
- Manipulate rigging lines, hoists and pulling gear to move or support materials such as heavy equipment, ships or theatrical sets.
- Clean and dress machine surfaces and component parts.
- Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings and gin‑pole booms, using bolts and clamps.
- Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
- Assist other departments if needed.
- Ensure a zero‑harm approach in all acts and omissions, acknowledging that nuclear safety and security are paramount.
- Comply with any rule, instruction or requirement of the Company necessary to satisfy obligations under the nuclear site licence.
- Housekeeping work areas, collecting, segregating and disposing of wastes as required; remove unused materials and clear floors to reduce slipping or tripping risks.
- Safely use, protect, store and care for general maintenance products, hand and power tools.
