Key Responsibilities

  • Operations
    • Assist with the induction and training of Kitchen Porter colleagues, ensuring health & safety and food safe practices are explained and reinforced.
    • Instruct colleagues in the safe performance and achievement of goods in and safe storage of stock.
    • Liaise with Chef Managers/Chef Supervisors to ensure clarity of the requirements of stores, deliveries and cages including ensuring the right items are returned safely to the Warehouse Hub or Central Production Kitchen.
    • Check and review stock levels to ensure correct stock based on usage over the previous seven days.
    • Liaise with Chef Supervisors/Chef Manager regarding stock levels and orders/deliveries.
    • Arrange and action goods movements internally across site using Somerset Larder vehicles.
    • Collect all goods orders with agreed suppliers, in line with requirements and agreed processes.
    • Ensure all stock and goods in operations within the catering outlets are carried out to the agreed standards for all customers and colleagues.
    • Assist in the receipting of goods electronically using procure wizard.
    • Assist in the completion of monthly stock takes.
    • Undertake any other duties as required to ensure good practice goods in, stores procedures and good housekeeping.
  • Cleaning
    • Ensure cleanliness of all equipment, crockery and cutlery as per normal procedures.
    • Carry out cleaning duties as and when required.
    • Ensure staff are competent as cleaning team members and use of correct chemicals and processes.
    • Ensure hygiene procedures operate in line with Food Safety/COSHH Policies.
  • Health & Safety
    • Complete the receipt and checking off, of food goods deliveries, ensuring that the required tracking, quality, health and hygiene requirements are met in line with the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) procedures.
    • Ensure the correct storage of delivered goods, ensuring that stock rotation and health and safety requirements are met.
    • Support and ensure daily deliveries to outlets around site are carried out within agreed timetables and to agreed quality and health and safety standards.
    • Ensure all waste is removed promptly and placed in the correct waste containers in accordance with site waste management plan.
    • Use electrical and handheld equipment as required for the achievement of tasks and duties, following standard safety and hygiene procedures as agreed.

Requirements

  • Food Safety 2 Certificate
  • COSHH trained
  • Allergens trained
  • Manual Handling trained
  • Full UK Driving License (Desirable)
  • Trained in HACCP (Desirable)
  • Trained as Banksman (Desirable)
  • Good knowledge and understanding of food storage and delivery procedures on a similar scope and scale, including 'stock rotation' and stock management.
  • Previous experience in a catering/kitchen porter/stores role
  • A good understanding of health and safety issues through appropriate training and practice including compliance with a zero harm culture
  • A good understanding of the skills and approaches of instructing and supporting colleagues to achieve good work standards
  • Able to guide, instruct and clarify on a range of stores, goods in and health and safety practices including cleaning practices.
