We are recruiting an exceptional Fire Safety professional to join CWA as we deliver the Sizewell C project, a landmark initiative powering 6 million UK homes with low‑carbon energy over the next 60 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the HSW Fire and Emergency Planning Lead to drive fire safety across all areas of CWA activity.
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve fire safety processes and procedures to meet regulatory requirements and project demands.
- Ensure work complies with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the latest Fire Safety Acts and Regulations, and all relevant construction standards for both temporary and permanent works.
- Champion behavioural fire safety, delivering briefings, drills and training, and mentoring junior HSW/Fire Advisors.
- Embed fire prevention and mitigation requirements into project methods, temporary works and construction sequencing in accordance with HSG168 and CDM 2015.
- Support SZC and CWA in meeting ONR expectations for robust construction fire safety controls.
- Analyse fire safety indicators, report trends, share lessons learned, and support incident investigations.
- Lead and review fire risk assessments for all CWA areas, ensuring actions are closed and maintained.
Your Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to engage, influence and promote a positive fire safety culture at all levels across CWA.
- Solid working knowledge of key UK fire safety legislation and guidance, including RRFSO 2005, HSG168, CDM legislation and the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Proven experience using data for fire safety reports and developing health and safety management systems.
- CSCS manager and professional competence.
- NEBOSH Fire or Fire Safety Certificate.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Fire Safety Level 4 Certification.
- Previous experience in a Senior Fire Safety role within construction or other high‑risk environments.
- Knowledge of DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations).
