Jackson Civil Engineering is recruiting a Section Engineer to work on large infrastructure schemes in East Anglia, initially on road projects in Harwich and Leiston. The main purpose of the role is to progress the construction process and assist in delivering the project.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with site management to complete quality take offs.
  • Develop awareness of potential commercial opportunities or issues with the project.
  • Complete hazard, risk assessments and method statements, including alerting relevant personnel to control measures and work methods.
  • Carry out inspections and testing to ensure conformance of works with design and specification.
  • Train, manage and mentor Junior Engineers.
  • Manage sectional setting‑out requirements on site.
  • Manage sectional service plans and drawings; issue permits accordingly.
  • Assist the QS/Project Manager with records and claims information.
  • Manage as‑built requirements of the section and contribute to the site health and safety file.
  • Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and company procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Good and extensive setting‑out experience on infrastructure projects including highways, roads and earthworks.
  • Proficiency with Leica/Geomax equipment and transferring data from AutoCAD to surveying equipment.
  • Understanding of ITPs and quality assurance processes.
  • Leadership skills and knowledge of construction practices.

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence is essential; willingness to travel throughout the Eastern Region.
  • First Aid at Work qualification is desirable.
