We currently have an exciting opportunity for the position of Outage Planning Engineer here at Torness power station. You will be a key member of our strategic planning department working on the safe, quality, timely and within budget delivery of the station’s shutdown maintenance periods., Working as part of a team, you will prepare outage plans and ensure that resources, spares, risks and plant release are organised for a specific area. During the outage execution, you will monitor progress and support delivery, highlighting risks to the lead planner and Outage Group Head.

Other responsibilities in this role include:

  • Developing fully logic linked and resource tasked plans for specific plant areas, reviewing historic plans to identify differences and review these with appropriate station departments.

  • Managing ‘Scope Change’ during the preparation phase.

  • Identifying risks and including details of risk mitigations.

  • Liaising with the outage plant area Lead to run the area outage preparation meetings as well as recording and tracking actions.

  • Maintaining plans during the outage execution phase by updating progress, tracking critical path, building in and managing the impact of emergent work and identifying any errors or improvements required in the plan.

  • Working with Operations to check and revise plans to maintain Tech Spec and other compliance requirements and to maximise ‘Defence in Depth’.

  • Supporting activities to deliver Pre-Outage Milestone Plans (POMP) for both statutory, off load refuelling outages and Fuel Route outages.

  • Liaising with the operational work planning team to ensure that pre and post outage work is identified and delivered as required to support successful outages.

With the ability to multitask and organise your time effectively, you should have the enthusiasm and drive to facilitate change, for which excellent interpersonal and communication skills are paramount.

This will also mean you should have the ability to manage cross-functional station teams and contractors, encouraging a team ethos that takes ownership for helping develop and deliver effective work programmes.

Competence in the use of planning software, particularly Oracle Primavera, would be an advantage.

We can offer a competitive salary ranging between £44,112 – £78,541 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.
