Essential role requiring previous NEC works contract experience, civil engineering, MCHW and H&S experience to support project delivery as NEC ECC Supervisor. The NEC Supervisor is appointed to ensure that the Contractor complies with the technical standards and specifications outlined in the NEC Engineering and Construction Contract, maintaining quality assurance and ensuring works comply with statutory requirements. Scope includes off‑site infrastructure such as major highway works, park and ride sites, rail works, temporary construction roads and utility network.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Monitor the Contractor's work to ensure compliance with the Works Information and NEC3 contract terms.
  • Issue defect notifications and assist in managing the defects correction process.
  • Review material approval requests and accept materials prior to delivery to site.
  • Chair regular quality meetings with the Contractor addressing quality non‑conformances and contract defects.
  • Liaise with County Council inspectors on site as required.
  • Observe site activities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, reporting unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Maintain daily records of inspections, tests and site activities.
  • Witness and verify testing and commissioning procedures.
  • Operate within CEMAR, Field view and SharePoint environments.
  • Coordinate with the SZC quality teams and report site processes back into the SZC Quality Management systems.
  • Support effective communications with the contractor's site team, the Project Manager and stakeholders.
  • Provide written and oral reports to the PM and engage with management for progress presentations covering quality, progress, H&S, environment, stakeholder relationships, etc.
  • Ensure lessons‑learnt and knowledge capture are practiced as business as usual.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all project team members.
  • Work with existing SZC construction managers to undertake and support the project's ongoing commitment to quality.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

Essential

  • Track record of working on projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of quality, safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the highways sector.
  • Degree and chartered status in an engineering, construction or related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • CSCS card and relevant health and safety training.
  • Excellent communication and record‑keeping skills.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the needs of nuclear quality and how nuclear quality is assured and controlled.
  • Understanding of how to apply a graded approach to quality.
