About the Role

Ready to elevate safety performance on one of the UK’s most ambitious low‑carbon projects? Keen to work in a collaborative commissioning environment where your expertise truly shapes how work is delivered? At EDF, Success is Personal – and your career journey is yours to shape.

The Opportunity

As a CommOps Safety Assurance Advisor, you’ll play a key role in strengthening safety performance across one of the UK’s most complex infrastructure projects. You’ll act as the assurance specialist for Commissioning and Operations activities, ensuring all work meets statutory health and safety requirements and the project’s high standards. You’ll be part of a dedicated safety and compliance team reporting to the CommOps Health, Safety and Wellbeing Lead, working in a hybrid arrangement based at Hinkley Point C. While there’s flexibility to work from home, you’ll spend at least three days a week on site to stay close to the work and the teams you support. This role gives you the chance to shape safety culture on a project helping Britain achieve net zero. You’ll identify non‑compliances, highlight good practice, drive corrective actions, and present safety trends. You’ll also work closely with the wider HPC organisation, Commissioning and Operational teams, and Contract Partners to resolve issues constructively and keep safety at the forefront of delivery.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a CommOps Safety Assurance Advisor who brings expertise, clarity and a proactive approach to improving safety performance. Do you offer…

  • A NEBOSH H&S Diploma (or equivalent) and strong knowledge of national and international HSE standards, including CDM Regulations.
  • Experience in commissioning or operational environments, with the ability to lead self‑assurance activities and root‑cause investigations.
  • Excellent communication skills to build strong working relationships, coach teams on site, and translate complex safety information into clear, actionable guidance.
  • Proven Health and Safety experience on large projects, with a sharp focus on identifying risks, analysing data and producing high‑quality reports.
  • The confidence to engage on technical issues and provide practical, solution‑focused advice to teams and contractors.
  • Strong leadership capability, including line management and positive coaching to support the development of others.
  • Chartered IOSH membership (or working towards it) would be desirable.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Driving safety performance across the Commissioning and Pre‑Operations teams by managing risk and promoting safe working practices.
  • Leading Health & Safety assurance activities in line with the HPC Safety Management System and CommOps H&S Plan, including audits, investigations and self‑assessments.
  • Coordinating the full safety assurance schedule for all CommOps activities, including DMIC scope, and ensuring compliance with legal duties such as CDM, PUWER, COSHH, PSSR and LOLER.
  • Producing clear, data‑driven safety performance reports, identifying trends and early warnings, and supporting monthly safety committee reporting.
  • Providing visible, positive engagement in the field—coaching teams, influencing behaviours, and offering practical advice on technical safety issues.
  • Leading and developing a small team of safety advisors while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver consistent, high‑quality assurance across the project.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a salary from £57,000, potential for an annual bonus, and a market‑leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more. At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that’s unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it’s your journey, powered by us.
