• Job Purpose / Overview

The Quality Lead (CFSI Manager) working within the Supplier Quality team is responsible for managing a team of Quality Engineers and ensuring compliance with the quality management systems covering all activities within the scope of the PDO Quality team.

This includes ensuring that nuclear industry and major project best practice quality management arrangements are defined and deployed across the SZC project, organisation and within the supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Implement key quality arrangements related to the following topics: Manage Quality Execution, support Technical Assessment of Suppliers, create information to report on the performance of suppliers, identify where support is required in the supply chain and provide this support.
• Undertake actions to resolve issues relating to the implementation of quality and to bring about improvements and support others in these actions.
• Develop and manage a team of Quality Engineers focused on the management and support of CFSI Mitigation.
• Line manage direct reports (Quality Engineers).
• Implement and support the maintenance of quality management arrangements for deployment across the SZC delivery organisation in accordance with the Quality Strategy and based on nuclear industry and major project best practice.
• Support the development of CFSI arrangements for deployment across SZC.
• Coach and train SZC quality & Supplier Teams in CFSI.
• Conduct CFSI Assessments with Suppliers.
• Investigate and report on potential CFSI issues.
• Lead or support the resolution of confirmed CFSI issues.
• Share learning & good practices across the supply chain and other stakeholders.
• Provide regular CFSI reporting to internal stakeholders.
• Maintain CFSI related information and data on SZC platforms.
• Recruit, appoint and manage the Quality Engineers, including their professional development.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND qualification or degree in a relevant science or engineering subject, or equivalent.
• Fluent in English.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and Power Point).
• Ability to work effectively and consistently with Office 365 Share Point and Teams collaboration platforms.
• Ability to speak French.
• Hold a professional accreditation (IRCA).
• Successfully completed an IRCA accredited Lead Audit Course for ISO 9001:2005/ISO 19443:2018.
• Corporate Member or working towards membership of the Chartered Quality Institute & Chartered Quality Professional.
• Commercial exposure, especially supplier management.
• Previous experience of working in a regulated environment (e. g. nuclear) ideally new build and/or a safety critical industry.
• Experience of working with integrated management systems.
• Experience of working within an independent oversight or audit capacity.
• Knowledge & understanding of nuclear site license conditions.
• Experience of interacting with regulators e. g. the ONR.
• Knowledge of Improvement Methodologies, Tools & Techniques e. g. Lean Six Sigma.
• Ability to speak other European languages.
• Dynamic individual with a solid understanding of the quality processes in major projects across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Strong awareness of working in an international quality environment.
• Knowledge of QA/QC codes and standards.
• Knowledge of special manufacturing processes, such as Welding, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).

Experience

• Application of IAEA, GSR Pt 2, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and/or ISO 19443 standard in a multi‑disciplinary project environment.
• Proven track record of delivering results.
• Proven leadership experience working in a quality assurance/control environment within the nuclear industry or other relevant safety critical industry.
• Proven experience of interaction and resolving issues with a wide range of stakeholders in a multicultural environment within major projects, manufacturing or large organisations.
• Experienced in the analysis of data, preparing reports and making recommendations.
• Ability to effectively implement quality management arrangements.
• Experience in leading and managing a team of Quality professionals, with the ability to motivate and manage their performance.
• Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Pro‑active and flexible, prepared to plan and work on own initiative across a broad range of issues to drive performance against all dimensions of the quality systems.
• Good understanding of the risks and impact of CFSI in complex manufacturing supply chains.
• Demonstrable experience in Continuous Improvement with a sound knowledge of manufacturing improvement techniques.
• Ability to influence and provide constructive challenge which is accepted by others.
• Able to support and implement practical solutions, whilst remaining open to the ideas of others.
• Confident and articulate communicator, able to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, able to speak and present material to a large audience.
• Able to interface between project teams and with supply chain organisations.
