Location: Cannington College – This role will support the three Centres of Excellence located in Bridgwater College, SDC3 Bristol Road & Cannington College and may need to travel to HPC site.
Job Purpose: UCS College Group has recently been awarded the prestigious Clean Energy Technical Excellence College status, recognising its leadership in developing the highly skilled workforce needed for clean energy infrastructure, advanced engineering and net‑zero delivery. This is a truly exciting time to join University Centre Somerset College Group (UCS), which has achieved unprecedented success in its response to the workforce skills, competence and compliance agenda supporting the UK’s clean energy transition and the “first‑in‑a‑generation” new nuclear build at Hinkley Point C (HPC). The College is the leading skills delivery partner to the HPC project and works in collaboration with the client, contractors and supply chain.
UCS, as Managing Agent for the Centres of Excellence with HPC, operates three unique facilities that support the Tier 1 Mechanical, Electrical & HVAC contractors as they mobilise and develop their workforces to meet the quality, safety and compliance standards required during the Mechanical & Electrical phase of the build:
- Welding Centre of Excellence (WCoE) – Bridgwater College.
- Electrical Centre of Excellence (ECoE) – SDC3, Bridgwater.
- Mechanical Centre of Excellence (MCoE) – Cannington College.
We are looking for a conscientious, enthusiastic individual with excellent organisational, communication and administrative skills, and strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will report to the Centres of Excellence Business Manager and will be responsible for supporting the smooth operation of these industry‑leading facilities and delivering a high‑quality service to employers, training partners, learners and HPC stakeholders across the clean energy agenda.
On a daily basis you will be part of a motivated team with a unique opportunity to work directly with HPC and education within the context of Europe’s largest clean energy construction project, through a large FE college that is producing extraordinary results. The successful candidate will need to be flexible and able to work across the various centres as operational requirements dictate.
