About the Role

As a Research Engineer in our Renewables R & D team, you’ll carry out practical, high-impact research that supports the operation and maintenance of existing and future offshore wind assets. You’ll deliver innovative solutions that reduce cost and risk, supporting EDF’s journey towards An Electric Britain through applied research and collaboration. This is a 9-month fixed term contract based from our London office. You’ll work within a highly skilled, international and multidisciplinary team, collaborating across the EDF Group, with occasional travel across the UK and France to support research activity and stakeholder engagement.

- Delivering applied research focused on offshore wind operations and maintenance
- Developing tools and models that support operational savings for offshore wind assets
- Leading and contributing to innovative research projects with internal and external partners
- Collaborating with academics, industry specialists, and EDF Group teams internationally
- Working with internal stakeholders to align research outputs with business needs
Who You Are
We’re looking for a Research Engineer who enjoys applied research, problem-solving, and collaboration in a technical environment. You’ll be comfortable working with data, models, and diverse stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
- Engineering or scientific background
- EngD / PhD level of education (or Master’s degree with relevant experience)
- Strong competency in data analysis
- Competence in mathematical optimisation
- Experience coding in Python (a front-end framework would be a plus)
Desirable Experience
- Experience with CPLEX or other optimisation solvers
- Extensive experience developing innovative solutions to engineering challenges
- Background in managing a range of projects in industrial and research contexts
- Extensive knowledge of the power generation sector
- Experience in offshore wind O&M or in a power industry O&M role
- International professional work experience

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams
- Enthusiasm for scientific and applied research, particularly modelling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communicating research needs and outputs
