Job responsibilities

  • To carry out all daily tasks and inform line manager if attention is required.
  • Ensure the completion of daily checks sheets, confirmation of defects and defect reporting, pass records to line manager for review audit/data recording purposes.
  • Recognise the requirement for familiarisation/competency training - review with line manager.
  • To supervise at loading/unloading areas ensuring they are safe and free from obstruction.
  • Recognise and ensure exclusion zones are set up when required.
  • To ensure all plant and vehicles are fit for purpose, maintained in a clean and serviceable condition.
  • Ensure all loads are secured correctly before transporting and that receipting paperwork is in place.
  • To co-ordinate unloading of deliveries, complete paperwork and pass records to the Plant manager for audit/data recording purposes.
  • To inform all operatives of any changes related to site duties or site requirements.
  • To relate all information from manager to operatives.
  • Give TBT's to operatives on a weekly basis and keep records of attendance.
  • Stand in for the Plant Manager in his absence.
  • To work closely with the DMS coordinators to ensure delivery times are met.
  • Maintain a good working relationships &and communication with other contractors on site.
  • Any additional reasonable duties requested by operational management.

Qualifications

  • SSSTS (to be completed before start date)
  • CITB Supervisor Test (to be completed before start date)
  • Full driving licence

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of Supervisory role in construction
  • Ability to plan plant operations against a delivery schedule.
  • Deliver excellent customer service.
  • Lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • To be able to manage an area / platform to a high standard.
  • Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure.
  • Ability to use a radio and deliver succinct and clear verbal and written communication where necessary.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal presentation.
  • Demonstrate reliability including the ability to deliver high standards of both punctuality and attendance in order to ensure team effectiveness and availability.
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team.
  • Able to deal calmly and confidently with all demands from the public.
  • An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity in relation to visitors' needs.
  • An interest in and commitment to the work of Wilson James for its clients.
  • Knowledge of the use of plant and equipment within the Logistics Industry.
  • Understanding of loading and securing methods.
