Are you a creative, emotionally intelligent graduate with aspirations to become a therapist – in art therapy, drama therapy, play therapy, or counselling?

A forward-thinking, inclusive primary school in Bexley is seeking a Therapeutic Learning Assistant – SEN School to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and social-emotional challenges through imaginative, therapeutic approaches. Starting September 2025, this full-time, term-time role offers a fantastic launchpad into therapeutic and mental health careers.

You\’ll work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to deliver nurturing, creative interventions that make a lasting impact on children\’s confidence, communication, and emotional wellbeing.

Role Summary – Therapeutic Learning Assistant – SEN School

  • Full-time, term-time role from September 2025 – July 2026

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils with Autism, SLCN, and emotional regulation needs

  • Use drama, music, art, or play to support therapeutic and learning goals

  • Contribute to a compassionate, inclusive learning environment

  • Collaborate closely with staff and therapists on targeted support plans

  • 105- 115 per day, depending on experience and qualifications

Person Specification

  • Degree in Art, Drama, Music, Psychology, Education, or related discipline

  • Passionate about child development and creative therapeutic approaches

  • Emotionally attuned, patient, and highly engaging

  • Experience working with children or vulnerable groups is desirable

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A future therapist, counsellor, SEN teacher, or wellbeing professional in the making
