This SEN Teaching Assistant role will see you supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, learning difficulties and Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs.
You will work closely alongside experienced teachers, the SENCo, support staff and external professionals, gaining invaluable hands‑on experience within a supportive primary school environment.
The school is specifically looking for academically strong graduates with a 1st Class or 2:1 degree from a reputable university, who are confident, compassionate and genuinely passionate about supporting children with SEN.
Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 & KS2
- Providing 1:1 and small group interventions for pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and Speech & Language needs
- Working closely with class teachers, the SENCo and external professionals
- Supporting children academically, socially and emotionally
- Helping pupils build confidence, communication and independence
- Adapting support to meet each pupil’s individual needs
- Full‑time, term‑time only
- Long‑term and full academic year position
- Located in the Borough of Richmond
Qualifications & Experience
- Must hold a 1st Class or 2:1 degree from a reputable university
- Strong academic background throughout education
- Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable
- Previous SEN, tutoring, mentoring or childcare experience would be beneficial
- Passionate about SEN, child development and mental health
- Patient, empathetic and proactive personality
- Aspiring educational psychologist, therapist, teacher or SEN professional is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
- Calm, resilient and nurturing approach
