Overview: This is a long-term, term-time-only role with a primary focus on Reception and support across Nursery as required. ASAP start. An inclusive and high-achieving primary school in the London Borough of Hackney is seeking a passionate and experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant (Reception Focus) to join their team.

The candidate should have broad Early Years experience (not just preschool) and a good understanding of early reading development, phonics, and language acquisition.

Responsibilities:
  • Support teaching and learning across Reception (primary focus) and Nursery (ages 2–5).
  • Deliver and support phonics sessions and early reading development.
  • Assist with spelling, reading, and early writing activities.
  • Encourage play-based learning in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Create a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and academic development.
Person Specification:
  • Degree from a reputable university.
  • Solid Early Years experience across Nursery and/or Reception.
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS Framework.
  • Knowledge or experience of phonics and early literacy development.
  • Proactive, engaging, enthusiastic, with a genuine passion for Early Years education.
  • Warm, caring, and patient approach to supporting young children.
