We are an inclusive and high-achieving primary school in the London Borough of Lewisham seeking a passionate and experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant (Reception Focus) to join our team for an ASAP start. This is a long-term, term-time-only role, with a strong focus on Reception, while also supporting across Nursery when required.
This Early Years Teaching Assistant (Reception Focus) opportunity is ideal for a candidate with broad Early Years experience (not just preschool) and a good understanding of early reading development, phonics, and language acquisition.
Responsibilities- Support teaching and learning across Reception (primary focus) and Nursery (ages 2–5)
- Deliver and support phonics sessions and early reading development
- Assist with spelling, reading, and early writing activities
- Encourage play-based learning in line with the EYFS framework
- Help create a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
- Support children’s social, emotional, and academic development

- Degree from a reputable university
- Have solid Early Years experience across Nursery and/or Reception
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the EYFS Framework
- Have knowledge or experience of phonics and early literacy development
