Overview: This is a long-term, term-time-only role with a primary focus on Reception and support across Nursery as required. ASAP start. An inclusive and high-achieving primary school in the London Borough of Hackney is seeking a passionate and experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant (Reception Focus) to join their team.
The candidate should have broad Early Years experience (not just preschool) and a good understanding of early reading development, phonics, and language acquisition.
Responsibilities:- Support teaching and learning across Reception (primary focus) and Nursery (ages 2–5).
- Deliver and support phonics sessions and early reading development.
- Assist with spelling, reading, and early writing activities.
- Encourage play-based learning in line with the EYFS framework.
- Create a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Support children’s social, emotional, and academic development.
- Degree from a reputable university.
- Solid Early Years experience across Nursery and/or Reception.
