A high-achieving and inclusive Secondary School in Tower Hamlets is looking to recruit an English Academic Mentor to join their team from September 2026. This full-time position is ideal for a graduate with a strong academic background who is passionate about literacy, language development and supporting young people to succeed academically.
As an English Academic Mentor, you will support students across KS3, KS4 and KS5 both inside and outside of the classroom. You will deliver focused interventions, support students preparing for GCSEs and A-Levels, and work closely with pupils who require additional encouragement with reading, comprehension and written communication. The school is particularly keen to meet graduates considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology or wider education-based roles. You will gain invaluable experience working alongside experienced teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams within a supportive and well-structured environment.
Job Description:- Supporting students across KS3, KS4 & KS5
- Delivering targeted English intervention sessions
- Providing 1:1 and small group academic support
- Supporting pupils with additional needs including Dyslexia, ADHD, ASD & Speech and Language difficulties
- Assisting with reading, essay writing, comprehension and exam preparation
- Working collaboratively with the English Department and pastoral teams

- Must hold a 1st Class or 2:1 degree in English, English Literature or a related subject from a reputable university
- Strong academic record throughout education
- Previous experience working with young people is beneficial
